About Us

Monhan Holdings is a state-of-the-art IT company based in sunny Kuala Lumpur. Our culture is a unique blend of raw Silicon Valley startup energy with burning Japanese dedication to service.

Our flagship product is GoMakan, a fun and tasty web portal that takes away the pain of wondering where you should eat next.

Every single one of us is a passionate foodie, in a country where love for great food binds the many different cultures together.

The Founders

Monhan Holdings was founded by a small band of returnees to Malaysia. Our experiences span numerous IT services in the US, Japan and Europe.

All of us were born in Malaysia, but lived and worked overseas for decades. We each have our own reasons for coming back to Malaysia, but we share the same dream of revolutionizing the Internet in Malaysia and making it a wonderful place for other returnees and Malaysians alike.

Ivevei Upatkoon

In 1998, after graduating from the University of Michigan, Ivevei Upatkoon found herself working at a little web startup in Japan because she loved anime too much to go back to Malaysia. In the thirteen years since, her career has taken her between Japan and Singapore, working in IT startups, corporate finance and consulting. A firm believer in the power of the Internet as a communications tool, she has designed and launched numerous social media services in Japan, including Sankei Group’s groundbreaking participatory news site IZA!.

Ivevei has an MBA from INSEAD in France, but her French is limited to deciphering dinner menus.

Krian Upatkoon

Krian Upatkoon has eight years' experience working with technology startups in the US and Singapore. He was one of the early members of the US-based engineering team at Internet TV pioneer Zattoo, which developed one of the world's first P2P content delivery systems and was responsible for kick-starting the age of real-time TV broadcast over IP in Europe. He is the driving force behind Monhan Holding’s cloud architecture and technology infrastructure.

Krian has a Masters in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is also the founder of the wildly popular open game engine project M.U.G.E.N. Its tens of thousands of user-created videos can be seen on Youtube and other video sites.
